The Korukonda Brothers Linga Murthy and Butchiraju, who were followers of Gandhian philosophy, established the 'Gandhi Ashram' trust by donating their 700 square yards (6,300 sft) land. A building was constructed in 1930, and six years later, a library was opened in it. Four years after that, the Gandhi Khaddar Society was also established in the same building. Today, the library has a collection of over 35,000 books on various subjects.
Korukonda Linga Murthy was a math teacher at Veeresalingam High School in Rajamahendravaram. He also served as secretary of Gouthami Library. When he moved to Anakapalli, he noticed the town lacked a library and decided to establish one for the community.

Korukonda Linga Murthy (1886-1944) was a mathematics teacher at Veeresalingam High School in Rajamahendravaram. He also served as secretary of Gouthami Library in Rajamahendravaram. When he moved to Anakapalli in Visakhapatnam district, he noticed there was no library in the town, so he decided to establish one for the benefit of the people.
The library prospered under Korukonda Subbaraju's management. He dedicated four decades to expanding its collection, including a 75-volume set on Mahatma Gandhi.
